Made of Tears

Nature is being destroyed by human resource abuse. As we watch the fish die, we must realize that we are also dying. Nature and we are one community, and we must purify nature with a heart full of tears.

The Beautiful Day of Autumn Harvest

I think pumpkins symbolize the abundance and gratitude of America. At this time of the fall, we see a variety of pumpkins, and I think they also symbolize America's diverse races and cultures. I expressed these pumpkins in a still life, and painted the background in black to express the expectation that even if our reality is dark, light will soon come, and I put an orange light on the right end.

Anatomy Drawing

I observed the structure of the human body through books in my father's study and expressed it in drawings. While drawing the various structures and perfect proportions of bones, I came to believe in the theory of creation that God really created humans.

The Future of Counterattack

The future of humanity depends on how well we control AI humanoids. Robots read and act on human emotions for our convenience, but this can easily become a great crisis for us. As civilization develops, the crises that we must take responsibility for and overcome also grow. I believe that someday robots will be able to have emotions like humans. That is why I believe that robots that feel alienated emotions can easily commit crimes, and this can become a great crisis for us. I depicted alienated robots looking at the humans who created them as if they were resenting them. Rather than expressing anger, I wanted to maximize the sense of crisis by showing the robot looking at the civilization created by humans from the rooftop of a building with a sense of futility.

Artistic Statement

KakaoTalk_20241028_180603399_edited.jpg

In my piece Harvest , I experimented with the use of oil pastels. It was one of my first times using the medium, so I wasn’t expecting a lot from the outcome. However, I ended up enjoying the blending of the pastels, the layering, and the rewarding final piece at the end. Some of my favorite art movements include the impressionist style and modern art. Claude Monet's choice of color and technique has been a huge inspiration to my artwork. My passion for art is fueled by my love for animation and expressing my emotions through drawing. In animation, my biggest inspirations were from Studio Ghibli, Dreamworks, Disney, cartoons, and anime. Not only do  I love drawing whimsical pieces, but I also love showcasing everyday life whether through people or landscapes. Storytelling has been a big part of my passion for art, and I tell stories through the images I create. Through my art, I captivate the heart of humanity and the human condition.  When I’m drawing, I can vent out my frustrations and capture my thoughts into  concrete imagery. As a student-athlete, I often train and study for long hours so when I draw, I release my stress.
